Welcome to Werner-Boyce Salt Springs State Park! On September 16, 2017, our Citizen Support Organization will be hosting a birding hike at 10333 Scenic Drive, Port Richey, FL . This will be a unique opportunity to explore areas of the park that are not accessible to the public due to the remoteness of the locations. Avid birder Ken Tracy will lead this hike and will be assisted by several other Audubon members. Ken Tracy spent 10 years as the president of the West Pasco Audubon Society, has produced 3 published manuscripts on local bird watching, and has a lifetime of experience. Ken has determined that September 16th will be prime migration time for spotting warblers, vireos, and flycatchers. You will be in areas where the elusive Black Rail has been spotted as well! This will be a fund raising hike for our CSO and there will be a suggested $10.00 donation collected at the start of the hike. We plan to limit this hike to 25 enthusiastic birders/hikers so we recommend that you sign up early. In order to get your name on the registration list please email Park Manager Adam Belden at firstname.lastname@example.org. Please note that the $3.00 entrance fee will be required at the Scenic Parking lot and you will need exact change.
$3.00 for park entrance, please bring exact change. Suggested $10.00 donation to the CSO for putting together this amazing opportunity. The Citizens Support Organization raises money to support the park, to join please visit https://saltspringsalliance.wildapricot.org/ ,
This hike will go off trail in several areas and you will need to be able to hike for a distance of 3 miles. We recommend that you bring plenty of water, bug spray, hiking shoes that can get dirty and wet, binoculars, a camera, and a strong sense of adventure!
