Highlands Hammock State Park

A Land Remembered Geocaching Event will begin Saturday morning with registration opening at 8:00 am at the park Recreation Hall. Geocaching will be ongoing throughout the day. Other activities include the Amazing Race, a competitive foot race with as many as ten organized teams consisting of four to five members per team. Amazing Race teams will provide administrative, resource management, and maintenance assistance to the park in addition to other race tasks. The Amazing Race will kick off at 9:00 am and end by 12:00 pm.  Advance registration is required. Meals served in the Recreation Hall include the following: breakfast from 8:30 am to 10:00 am, lunch from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm, and a dinner beginning at 5:00 pm followed by prize drawings and presentations at 6:00 pm. The purchase of meal tickets is requested by September 16 to better assist planning and food preparation. Cache In -Trash Out (CITO) is scheduled on Sunday morning, September 24 from 8:30 am to 12:00 pm in conjunction with the geocaching event and National Public Lands Day. Volunteers will assist with park maintenance projects including painting the Music in the Park stage in the picnic area and the replacement of wooden park railings and campfire circle wooden benches in the Primitive Wilderness Campground. Volunteers will meet in the picnic area in at 8:30 am.  Volunteers are advised to wear sturdy shoes and protective clothing. Bring work gloves, a hat, sunscreen, insect repellent, water, cold drinks, and snacks. Please see additional Information for participation requirements and other pertinent information.

Fees: 

Park entry fees of $4.00 per single occupant vehicle and $6.00 per vehicle (up to eight people) apply for day visitors.  Park entry fees will be waived for volunteers who participate in the Cache In - Trash Out in conjunction with National Public Lands Day on Sunday, September 24.

Meal tickets for the geocache event are $5 per serving for breakfast, $5 per serving for lunch and $10 per serving for dinner. Event organizers request that geocache participants purchase meal tickets by September 16, although they will be available the week of and on the day of the event.
