The Friends of De Leon Springs State Park, Inc., is the park's Citizen Support Organization. The group, a 501(c)(3), operates under a written agreement with the Florida Park Service. Their role is to encourage historical, educational and ecological enhancement within the park. The Friends, in cooperation with the park, sponsors several events throughout the year--Day in History, Spring Festival, Pioneer Fiber Arts Guild, Wood Carvers' Jamboree, Children's Cane Pole Fishing Tournament, and the Halloween Haunted Trails. Their fund raising supports the park in many ways, such as renovating the Visitor Center, purchasing equipment and vehicles, and enhancing the park with additions including a new pavilion, storage/office building, kiosks, hand dryers in restrooms, and the plant nursery.
