The Fort Mose Historical Society is a group of dedicated area citizens, volunteers, and community leaders interested in supporting Fort Mose Historic State Park, the site of the first legally sanctioned free African settlement in what would become the United States. The Society is dedicated to bringing this story to the American people and as well as worldwide so it will no longer be a part of our hidden history. Incorporated in 1996, the Society serves as the official Citizen Support Organization for the Fort Mose site. The organization sponsors many public programs to increase knowledge of the Fort Mose story and welcomes your membership and support as they continue to promote the important and compelling history of this historic site.
