One of the most valuable assets to the parks operation is its volunteers. The Friends of the Florida Caverns State Park is a non-profit organization developed by local residents to assist with park programs and events.
The mission of the Friends of Florida Caverns State Park is to support Florida Caverns State Park by acting as a non-profit corporation as defined and regulated by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection. This Citizen's Support Organization (CSO) will act to generate and employ additional resources and to augment the state park's existing funding in order to maintain, enhance, and expand the state services to the public. Funding comes from special events, activities, and other programs. The Friends recognize the powerful tool the park serves to educate people of the value of protecting and celebrating the significant biological, geologic, cultural features and recreational opportunities that resulted in the Florida Caverns State Park being designated as Florida's 7th state park more than 60 years ago. Membership in the Friends of Florida Caverns State Park is available to those persons who support the objectives and goals of the organization, complete a membership application, and pay annual membership dues. No person shall be denied membership in the Friends of Florida Caverns State Park based on age, race, sex, color, religious creed, national origin, or educational background. The members of the Friends of Florida Caverns State Park have the privilege of voting on motions before the membership, joining committees, and participating in all Friends of Florida Caverns State Park activities.
