A Message From The Director

Spring is Fun at Florida's State Parks

Welcome to the website for Florida’s state parks and state trails. This website will help you plan your visits to Florida’s 171 award-winning state parks and state trails.

Florida's state parks and state trails offer many opportunities for outdoor recreation and family fun. Check out the Junior Ranger program. Introduce a child to the joys of nature. They can discover fun outdoor activities at their own pace or join a ranger-led program.

On Saturday, May 16, children of all ages will gather at parks around the nation for the annual Kids to Parks Day. The nationwide day of play is organized by the National Park Trust in cooperation with multiple local and national sponsors, and focuses on educating and preparing the next generation of park stewards for the future of America’s treasure parks. The Florida Park Service is proud to take part in these efforts by offering kid-friendly activities year round and a few events on the official day.

While you and your kids are welcomed to visit any one of our 171 state parks or trails on Kids to Parks Day, Oscar Scherer State Park will be hosting a family-oriented Stand-Up Paddle Board Demonstration and Fort Clinch State Park will be hosting a Kids’ Fishing Clinic, where the first 500 kids to arrive will take home their own rod and reel. Jonathan Dickinson State Park is also hosting a Family Adventure Program on Kids to Parks Day, which is sure to get families and their children participating in fun activities.

It’s not too early to plan for Memorial Day. Every year, I attend the Florida Folk Festival at Stephen Foster Folk Culture Center State Park. This year the festival will be held May 22, 23 and 24 and will feature the best of Florida’s music, arts and culture. Tickets are on sale now at the Florida Folk Festival page. Admission for children ranges from free to $5.00 for the three day weekend, while adults can buy tickets in advance for $50.00 for the weekend.

Be sure to follow us on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Instagram. Also, be sure to download the PocketRanger® app for iPhones and Android smart phones.

See you at the park!
