A historic beachside escape from the nearby city of Fort Lauderdale. This last example of a natural coastal beach community in Broward County offers an escape from city life as well as protection for endangered plant and animal species.

People Make the Parks
The Florida Park Service’s geographic information experts aid in the fight to protect Florida’s sea turtles and their habitat.
In September 2017, Hurricane Irma struck Bahia Honda State Park and severely damaged many of the ecosystems within the park. After the storm passed, volunteers and staff came together to remove debris, clear paths and begin the long road to recovery.
