Windley Key Fossil Reef Geological State Park
About Windley Key Fossil Reef Geological State Park
A NOTE FROM THE MANAGER
South Florida weather beckons visitors to drive the Overseas Highway from Miami to Key West. At MM 84.9, is Windley Key Fossil Reef Geological State Park; once the location of quarries used in the construction of Henry Flagler's railroad in the early 1900s. You can view the walls of an ancient coral reef that was quarried by the railroad that is now part of the road you are driving. Take a guided or self-guided tour through the hammock, and enjoy our Education Center.
Please join us in celebrating Windley Key Day on March 8th from 9am to 3pm, and see various environmental organizations that support our beautiful Florida Keys.
