ADVENTURES UNDER THE SPRING MERMAID CAMP
Weeki Wachee Springs State Park
Please call the park for available dates.
In our Adventures Under the Spring Mermaid Camp, we will teach your child what it is like to be an underwater performer at Weeki Wachee Springs. Each day, there will be training sessions in the water. If your child is not comfortable swimming in the spring, please reconsider this camp. On the last day of the camp, the underwater theater will be open for all parents and friends to view the underwater performance they have learned. Please note that your child will not be instructed to breathe off our air hoses. This requires SCUBA certification, first aid, CPR, several months of training, as well as being 18 years of age. Your child will be swimming in approximately 15 feet of water. There will be trained underwater performers with your child at all times and there are areas your child may hang onto if they become fatigued.
During the underwater training sessions, your child will learn the basic ballet moves that our mermaids perform every day. This is the first step for our performers before they swim in shows. During the day, we will teach them the daily responsibilities of being a mermaid, while getting behind the scenes look at what it takes to put on a show. The camper will also get to participate in one of our mermaid shows as a dry performer in the underwater theater.
Each child will receive a "Mermaid Makeover," a self portrait, as well as a group shot of their camp. Please let the trainers know of any food allergies your child may have. Each participant will also receive two daily admission tickets to the park, which are good for the child's scheduled weekend of camp. This is for the family to have the chance to enjoy the park as well, but we ask the parent to remain outside of the camp area until the pick up.
Camp sessions are filled on a first come, first serve basis. As you fill out the application, please list by first preference, the second, etc. There is a maximum of nine children for each camp weekend, NO EXCEPTIONS. After our trainers have received your packet with payment, they will call to confirm your weekend.
Sincerely,
Marcy M. Terry
