WAYMARKING IN FLORIDA STATE PARKS

Waymarking helps participants catalog, mark and visit interesting locations around the world. Using GPS technology, users can pinpoint any location, mark it and share it with others, encouraging them to explore.

Waymarking helps participants catalog, mark and visit interesting locations around the world. Using GPS technology, users can pinpoint any location, mark it and share it with others, encouraging them to explore.

Participants do not need a Global Positioning System (GPS) to search for waymarks - sometimes a zip code provides enough information.

FIND A WAYMARK RETURN TO TOP

  1. Find a waymark by using keywords or a zip code at www.waymarking.com
  2. Look through possible clues until you locate one or more that interest you.
  3. Print the clues or go paperless if you can.
  4. Search for the waymark. Enjoy your exploration.
  5. Share your experience on the website by navigating back to the clue and clicking on the Log It! Button.

POST A WAYMARK RETURN TO TOP

  1. Find a place that you want to share with others.
  2. Use your GPS unit to record the waypoint or latitude/longitude coordinates.
  3. If this location is inside a state park, please be aware that archaeological and historic sites are sensitive.
  4. Log into www.waymarking.com and record your Waymark, using clues to help others find it.
  5. Share your experience on the website by navigating back to the clue and clicking on the Log It! Button.

VOCABULARY RETURN TO TOP

Profile: Your home base. From here you can view your personal Waymarking statistics, as well as manage your Waymarks, Waymark categories, logs, origins, and personal information.

Ratings: A way for you to quickly see how other people feel about a particular Waymark. It's usually a good idea to read the log paired with the rating to get the proper context.

Visit: A comment posted to a Waymark page referring to a physical trip to a Waymark, also called a log.

Waymark: A single location on the waymarking.com website. Examples may be a specific statue, lighthouse, or Stuckey's restaurant.
