Manager's Message
I want to welcome you to St. Joseph Peninsula State Park. This is one of Florida's most diverse state parks. There is something here for everyone to enjoy with a multitude of recreational opportunities and abundant wildlife activity. Come and enjoy nine miles of white sand beach and the some of the most prominent dune formations in the United States.
With spring upon us, warmer days and evening temperatures have arrived. Sunny days and a comfortable humidity level is ideal for any recreational activity. If you plan on spending time in the water or on a boat, please take time to familiarize yourself with the color code flag for current water conditions at the entrance to the beaches and the boat ramp.
We have three nature trails and a Wilderness Preserve for you to explore and observe the various wildlife and plant communities. We have conducted two prescribed fires in the park. One of the prescribed fires was in Shady Pines campground. This benefits both you and a healthy habitat for the plant and wildlife that are native to this part of the panhandle.
Cabins - Since November 2006, we have been renovating our popular cabins. We have completed 50% of the cabin renovations. This is an ongoing project and will continue until all cabin renovations are complete. Please contact the park if you have any questions.
The St. Joseph Peninsula Erosion Control Project for Gulf County began on or about March 10, 2008. The beach renourishment will include 1.6 miles of beach within the park boundary. Once this project begins, it will be a 24 hour continuous operation until the renourishment in the park is complete. The beach renourishment is expected to be completed in the park in approximately May. Weather or mechanical delays may extend completion date of the state park beach. Beach access in and around the renourishment will be limited from time to time until the project is beyound the park boundary. Please contact the park if you have any questions.
We look forward to assisting you in enjoying your visit and recreation activities at St. Joseph Peninsula State Park. If you would like to place the word "Memorable" in front of your visit to the "Forgotten Coast", please come visit this beautiful and diverse park in the panhandle of Florida.

Welcome to T.H. Stone Memorial St. Joseph Peninsula State Park
With miles of white sugar sand, this park has one of the top rated beaches in the United States. Sunbathing, snorkeling, and swimming are popular activities along the Gulf of Mexico and St. Joseph Bay. From offshore, canoeists and kayakers can take in a superb view of the high dunes and sand pine scrub. Outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy camping, fishing, hiking, and bicycling. As a coastal barrier peninsula, St. Joseph provides excellent opportunities for bird watching; over 240 species have been sighted in the park. A boat ramp is located at Eagle Harbor on the bay side. Campers can stay in a full-facility campground, a short walk from the beach, or at primitive campsites in the wilderness preserve. Eight cabins on the bay side offer alternative overnight accommodations.
