Welcome to our State Park!

Manager's Message

I want to welcome you to St. Joseph Peninsula State Park. Come and visit with us for the fourth of July holiday weekend and your summer vacation. This is one of Florida's most diverse state parks. There is something here for everyone to enjoy with a multitude of recreational opportunities and abundant wildlife activity. Come and enjoy nine miles of white sand beach and the some of the most prominent dune formations in the United States.

While enjoying your summer vacation at St. Joseph Peninsula State Park, Keep in mind that it is sea turtle nesting season. Please remove all items from the beach and fill holes in at the end of your beach recreation day. Along with the heat and higher humidity levels, numerous insects have arrived as well. I recommend you bring and apply insect repellent while camping and recreating in the park if needed. If you plan on spending time in the water or on a boat, please take time to familiarize yourself with the color code flag for current water conditions at the entrance to the beaches and the boat ramp. In addition, scallop season began on 1 July and runs until 10 September. Please take time to familiarize yourself with the FWC regulations and limitations for scallop season.

We have three nature trails and a Wilderness Preserve for you to explore and observe the various wildlife and plant communities. .

Cabins - Since November 2006, we have been renovating our popular cabins. We have completed 50% of the cabin renovations. This is an ongoing project and will continue until all cabin renovations are complete. Please contact the park if you have any questions.

Four miles of Park Drive has been repaved and striped. The repaving project began at the ranger station and ends at the gate to the Wilderness Preserve on Cabin Road. The first mile from the gate to the ranger station was repaired and filled as needed. This project was completed today and I hope you will notice a remarkable and pleasant difference.

We look forward to assisting you in enjoying your visit and recreation activities at St. Joseph Peninsula State Park. If you would like to place the word "Memorable" in front of your visit to the "Forgotten Coast", please come visit this beautiful and diverse park in the panhandle of Florida.

Welcome to T.H. Stone Memorial St. Joseph Peninsula State Park

With miles of white sugar sand, this park has one of the top rated beaches in the United States. Sunbathing, snorkeling, and swimming are popular activities along the Gulf of Mexico and St. Joseph Bay. From offshore, canoeists and kayakers can take in a superb view of the high dunes and sand pine scrub. Outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy camping, fishing, hiking, and bicycling. As a coastal barrier peninsula, St. Joseph provides excellent opportunities for bird watching; over 240 species have been sighted in the park. A boat ramp is located at Eagle Harbor on the bay side. Campers can stay in a full-facility campground, a short walk from the beach, or at primitive campsites in the wilderness preserve. Eight cabins on the bay side offer alternative overnight accommodations.
