Wild Horses and Trail - The horses seen on Paynes Prairie are descendents of the first horses brought to America by Spanish explorers.
Horses and Bison - Sometimes a visitor is fortunate enough to see Cracker Horses and American Bison at the same time on Paynes Prairie basin.
Cranes Sunset - Sunset at Paynes Prairie often silhouettes Sandhill Cranes on the prairie basin.
Cracker Cattle - These long horn cracker or scrub cattle are direct descendents of cattle first brought to America by Spanish Explorers. Paynes Prairie Preserve maintains a herd of these cattle as a link to our cultural history.
Bison - American Bison are more commonly seen grazing in the prairie basin.
Bison and Oak Tree - American Bison sometimes lounge around large oak trees.
Alachua Sink - The Karst Geology of Central Florida provides openings or sink holes directly into the underground aquifer. Alachua Sink is such a conduit to the Floridan Aquifer.
Passion Flower - The Passion Flower exhibits a large blue flower in Summer. It prefers sandy locations.
Hawk Siblings - Red Shoulder Hawks can often be seen perched in large trees throughout the preserve.
