Testimonials for Paynes Prairie Preserve State Park
- A great way to bond with friends and family.
Lidia Dinkova - Gainesville, Florida - Visited park first Saturday in Feb. The most visitors I have ever seen in one day on the North Rim. The new access trail is well done and the complaints about the District Headquarters well -- I guess if there is some sort of emergency and someone needs to run for help I suppose the HQ's proximity may be a redeeming factor -- because the disturbing sight of visitors climbing down to the waters edge though risky could become a fatal mistake --- perhaps to some, the knowledge that staff is near by may serve as a deterrent to more questionable behaviors. Overall, the sight of such a large number of huge alligators was impressive.
Kathleen Cox - Gainesville, Florida - This park has some very nice hiking trails. but watch out for the ticks! I was there over Labor Day and it took me two days to finally get all the ticks off. One wasn't any bigger than the head of a pen. Unless you're camping with a group make sure you get an individual site, not one of the ones on the 4 site loop. There's no privacy at all.
Susan Burkley - vero beach, fl, Fl - Visited this park in late January. Nice level sites with ample space between. Buildings were original CCC handiwork and appeared to be near new condition.Visitor's center well stocked with literature and video presentation was quite informative. Restrooms very clean. Many hiking trails providing great wildlife viewing: cracker ponies, bald eagles, woodpeckers, wild turkey, etc. We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend at this park and will definitely return next year!
H D - New Port Richey, FL - JUST LEFT HERE AND WAS VERY IMPRESSED. GREAT BIKING TRAILS. CAN'T WAIT TO GO BACK. CAMPSITES WERE VERY ROOMY, AND BATHROOMS VERY CLEAN.
