Paynes Prairie Preserve State Park Photos

create a skeleton appearance in the landscape. Paynes Prairie - Puffy cumulus clouds over 
the prairie basin in the summer months create a beautiful contrast to basin water and vegetation.

Early Morning Silhouette - The morning sun reflects off the water to silhouette a heron hoping to catch a meal. Gopher - The Gopher Tortoise inhabits upland areas with sandy soil. Prehistoric - One of the multitude of American Alligators basking at waters edge.

Blue Heron Fishing - Knee deep in the water, this blue heron is attempting to stab a meal. Twin Palms - Two Sabal Palms back dropped by open prairie basin and a building thunderstorm. Welcome Center - Paynes Prairie Preserve's Visitor Center has received recognition for its architectural uniqueness as it transcends the visitor from the shaded rim of the prairie to the vast open prairie basin.

Alligator on La Chua Trail - Alligators thrive along the La Chua Trail due to excellent feeding and basking opportunities. Barred Owl - An adult Barred owl pears out from the branches of its' perch. Campers - One of fifty family campsites
located in upland wooded area near Lake Wauberg.

La Chua Trail - La Chua Trail stretches well 
out into the prairie basin, giving the visitor a chance to experience the wonders of a wetland prairie. Lake Gator - A lake gator in the swampy water surrounded by trees. Wild horse - A wild Florida Cracker horse grazes on the prairie basin.
