Palatka-to-Lake Butler State Trail
About Palatka-to-Lake Butler State Trail
A NOTE FROM THE MANAGER
Byron Feagle, Trail Manager
The existing paved trail extends from Holloway Road in Putnam County to SE 57th Street in Bradford County. There is access to the trail in Putnam County at County Road 315 in Grandin. Twin Lakes Park in Keystone Heights serves as the trailhead for the trail which is now paved and open to the public for cycling, hiking, running, horseback riding and skating. Downtown Keystone Heights provides access to the 5.5 mile State Road 21 Bike Path, linking visitors to Gold Head Branch State Park.
The trail corridor's western terminus stretches 4.1 miles from County Road 237 to State Road 238. It is accessible from the Lake Butler trailhead adjacent to Union County Depot Park.
Additional segments of the trail will be constructed as funding become available. Putnam County’s long range plans include constructing the Urban Palatka Trail segment to connect to the Palatka-to-St. Augustine State Trail. A portion of the trail will be designated as part of the 1,400-mile Florida National Scenic Trail.
