This 543-acre park has 30 campsites nestled in the shady, wooded forest, with electric and water hookups available. The peaceful and quiet atmosphere of this park makes every visit tranquil and relaxing. A youth campsite is situated on the Dead River for youth organizations to use. Nature trails run along the river and wind through picturesque pine flatwoods. Ranger-guided walks and campfire programs are offered upon request.

Maximum RV length = 40 ft.

The youth group camping site accommodates up to 60 people. Amenities include cold water shower, portable toilet and a fire ring with benches. Call the park for reservations at (850) 962-2771.
Canoeing & Kayaking

Canoeing & Kayaking

Paddling opportunities are numerous along the many scenic tidal creeks around the park and two trail maps are available in the additional information section of this website and at the park entrance station. One is for the 7.5-mile Bear Creek Loop and the other is for the 7.5-mile Dead River Sopchoppy Loop. Difficulty varies depending on winds and tides. Kayak rentals are available at the park (inquire at the gate).
Fishing

Fishing

The park is considered an excellent location for both canoeing and fishing. Both fresh and saltwater species may be caught, including largemouth bass, bream, catfish and speckled perch in the fresh waters. Redfish and speckled trout are common in the brackish water. A Florida freshwater or saltwater fishing license may be required .

Nature trails are located along the river and throughout the pine forest. During summer months, ranger-guided walks and campfire programs are provided.
