PHOTOGRAPHY ADVENTURE
Myakka River State Park

Ongoing Event. Trips depart on select days at 8 a.m. from the parks visitor center.

Myakka River State Park is a photographer’s paradise! One of the park’s gems, the famous Deep Hole, requires a lengthy hike to access… unless you take a ride on a photography safari tour. Venture out into the backcountry in the back of a four-wheel drive pick up truck instead of trying to carry all your photography gear. As a bonus, your guide, Dick Pfaff, has been kayak guiding and photographing on the Myakka River for fifteen years. During that time, he has also been one of the premier certified kayak instructors on the west coast of Florida. As you travel to both Deep Hole and the neighboring Cabin Lane to Lower Lake, your guide will help get you within reasonable photographing distance to some of the parks more popular wildlife. Sightings of alligators, white pelicans, roseate spoonbills, white ibises, osprey, egrets and white-tailed deer are common.

The cost for a trip is $55.00 per person (park entrance fee waived). A minimum of 3 participants, and not to exceed 6, are permitted on each excursion. Trips depart on select days at 8 a.m. from the park’s visitor center. In the case of rain, safari trips are rescheduled to a later date. Each safari is approximately 5 hours long.
Participants are advised to bring drinks, snacks, sunscreen, as well as any desired photography equipment. (Although Dick does have an extensive background in photography, you should be comfortable with your equipment.)
