Myakka River State Park
Fridays - December thru April. 8:00 AM until 12:00 Noon
Wilderness Preserve Adventure
“Take a Walk on the Wild Side,” is one of the Friends’ most exciting adventures. Bob Richardson, one of Myakka’s famous Bird Interpreters who has led Sierra Club Outings to Dry Tortugas and Belize, and Big City Mountaineer backpack trips through the Rocky Mountains, has volunteered to lead hikes to Deep Hole at Lower Myakka Lake this fall and winter. The area is usually one of the best places in the park to view eagles, wading birds like roseate spoonbills and sandhill cranes, ducks, shorebirds, and alligators.
The cost is $20 per person, or $15 for Friends members. The excursions are scheduled from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon on Fridays, December through April. The first trip will be Friday, December 5th, 2014. Reservations are required as the trips are limited to 6 people. For reservations, call Bob Richardson at 941 780-0881 or email Bob@rkwRealestate.com.
