A NOTE FROM THE MANAGER

Jon Robinson

Plan to leave early for your drive to Myakka. State Road 72 is under construction west of the park entrance so you can expect multiple delays. Portions of the highway are open only for single lane traffic.

Still no rain and the water level in the river continues to drop, many places drying up completely. The boat ramp is closed and Myakka Outpost is renting canoes and kayaks for use only in the Upper Myakka Lake. You can monitor the rise and fall of the river depth from this website. Choose "About the River" from the Ecology tab, then select USGS River/Streamflow data under the River Height section.
