March 15, 2014
John D. MacArthur Beach State Park
Date: March 15, 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM
In South Florida, March is always a great month to enjoy and explore the outdoors. This year, the first day of Spring is March 20th and we can’t think of a better way to welcome in the season, than to have you join us for our annual "Green" event, NatureScaping 2014 on March 15, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
This year’s theme, ‘Seeing the Beauty of Art in Nature,’ will be represented throughout the event. There will be numerous local exhibitors and vendors selling items inspired by nature. Jim Hutchinson, Florida Hall of Fame Artist, will be giving a presentation from 1-2:00 p.m. talking about his life and artwork, which will be displayed and for sale in the park’s theater. Local plein air artists will be creating works of art and talking with visitors about their artistic process. Photo buffs can register for a photography workshop and enter the event’s photography contest. As always, there will be one of the largest gatherings of Florida native plant vendors selling some of South Florida’s best trees, shrubs and wildflowers. Children and adults can enjoy a live animal show at 2 p.m. and music by folk singers, Bill and Kate Isles throughout the day. Kids can take part in a scavenger hunt and enjoy the many kid-friendly booths. Local youth dancers will entertain the crowd at 11:00 a.m. in the park’s amphitheater. If you want to get out on the water, visitors can take on the challenge of a kayak obstacle course starting at 10 a.m. This year, Food Truck Invasion will take part in the event with eight food trucks serving a variety of snacks and meals. So bring your appetite to sample some of the local cuisine and remember to mark March 15, 2014 on your calendar as a day to celebrate the beauty of art in nature.
