Lower Wekiva has some wonderful opportunities including wildlife observation and enjoying some of ...the Real Florida. This property has limited facilities, so please be prepared when you visit. There are 3 entrances to Lower Wekiva Preserve with some different activities at each location.
The southern entrance is Lower Wekiva Preserve State Park, 8300 W. State Road 46, Sanford, FL 32711. Activities at this location are hiking and wildlife observation. There are no facilities at this location so visitors are advised to bring with them items they will need to enjoy their visit (water, snacks, insect repellent, etc.).
For access to the Wekiva River to fish from the bank or launch your own canoe or kayak, an excellent location is Katie's Landing at Lower Wekiva River Preserve, 262 Wekiva Park Drive, Sanford, FL 32711. Katie's does offer restroom facilities, picnic tables and grills however there is no potable water at this location.
Our northern entrance is primarily used for equestrian activities. Lower Wekiva River Preserve, Fechtel Tract, 38015 Fechtel Road, Eustis, FL 32726. We offer primitive equestrian camping with stalls, stables, facilities, picnic tables, and grills. The trails at this location can also be used for hiking and wildlife observation as well. There is running water for horses, however it is not intended for human consumption. For equestrian camping reservations, call (407) 884-2009.
