Testimonials for Little Talbot Island State Park
- I love this park and campground. The sites are very secluded and you feel like you are the only person there. The facilities were roomy and clean. Great hiking and the beach is gorgeous. We spent 3 nights, but would have loved to stay longer.
Sherri Centore - Merritt Island, FL - The bluffs and riverfront beach facing the ocean at the end of the black rock trail are otherworldy in their appearance. Gigantic driftwood makes a great climbing area for kids and adults alike. Get out and alone, spend time with nature and feel the power of creation, do black rock trail on a day when the temp will not break 70 and when there is a west wind for best effect.
Jamie Davis - St. Augustine, Fl - We visit Little Talbot Island almost weekly. We love being on a beach that is so secluded, no condos and uncrowded. We love looking for shells and just enjoying nature.
Bill & Jan Bain - Orange Park, Fl - We've just returned from a week of pop-up camping at Little Talbot Island State Park. We didn't want to come home! We are a family of four, kids aged 10 and 7. We used the campground boat launch to put our canoe in Myrtle Creek. For those who enjoy fishing, head south to the intersection of Myrtle Creek and Simpson Creek, then head north a bit into Simpson Creek. Simpson Creek is bigger, and the fish are more plentiful there. We also walked from the first beach boardwalk to the north end of the island. We were hoping for redfish in the surf but didn't find any. The walk took our family about an hour, but we found starfish and entire sand dollars at water's edge along the way. We met no one else on our entire hike up the beach and back. The kids also enjoyed the A1A ferry to Mayport where we ate at Singleton's Shrimp Shack. The fried seafood platter for two fed our family with leftovers. Also, the website doesn't say that each bath house has a laundry station with one washer and one dryer ($1.50 per load for each). We would have packed fewer clothes if we had known that. This is a wonderful state park!
Theda Rudd - Asheville, NC - I am from up near the Pokagon State Park in Steuben County, Indiana. This was my first time here in Florida.
I was at the Amelia Island Plantation and decided to take a day trip to this park - I have to say it was a wonderful choice. This park was so serene and awe inspiring. I chose to travel down past the swimming beaches and am so glad that I did. Beautiful shells, lovely white sand beach, and tranquility were well worth the short distance. For a first time Florida visitor, I feel nothing could ever top this lovely location.
The park ranger that assisted me, the ex-navy gentleman that I forgot to ask his name, was so kind and helpful. i appreciated the hospitatlity and his friendly nature.
Thank you for the beautiful park and a lovely memory.
Charlotte Edsall - Wolcottville, Indiana - The park is not crowded with ugly condos and hotels, all the natural beauty exists. The beach is full of shells and fun waves. Very nice trails, and staff are like your friends.
