A NOTE FROM THE MANAGER

Christy Burch

Greetings,

Little Manatee River State Park now has bike rentals available for park users at the ranger station for hourly and daily rates. We also will have weekly rates starting in October for campers who would like to rent bikes and have it for a week while staying in the campground. Canoes are also still available at the ranger station for half day and whole day rentals.

Recently our staff created a new fishing spot in a very quaint and beautiful area of the park located near the primitive youth camp. It is open to visitors at times when the primitive youth camp is not in used by youth groups and we've named the area "the fishing point". Ask a ranger for details of how to get to this new river access area when you arrive. It's a great place to fish, picnic or just relax by the scenic Little Manatee River.

Spring is also an excellent time of the year to hike one of our many hiking trails or rent a canoe for a scenic trip down the Little Manatee River. Wildflowers and songbirds are abundant during the spring season, making each back country adventure a beautiful sight to see. We hope to see you soon at Little Manatee River State Park.

Volunteer Opportunities - If you enjoy working with people and in the outdoors then give the ranger station a call at 813-671-5005 and ask for me, Christy Burch, Park Manager. The park is in need of some hard working, enthusiastic, self-motivated volunteers that have an interest in visitor services, grounds maintenance and trail maintenance. If you think you have what it takes then we would love to have you as a park volunteer.
