Freshwater lake surrounded by pine and hardwood forests.

Manager's Message

The days are turning warmer. Now is the perfect time to plan a family outing at Lake Talquin State Park. Enjoy the scenic view from the picnic pavilion and take a walk along the boardwalk that rims the bank of the lake. The views are breathtaking. A stroll along this 650 foot walkway will be the highlight of your visit to the park. Of course, you won't want to miss a hike along the nature trail that brings you close to bald eagle nests, high on the bluffs along the lake. To reserve all or half of our rustic pavilion and the big outdoor grill for a family or group outing, call the park office at (850) 922-6007. Lake Talquin is gorgeous and just waiting for you to come on out.
- Barry Burch, Park Manager

Welcome to Lake Talquin State Park

In 1927 the Jackson Bluff Dam was constructed on the Ochlockonee River to produce hydroelectric power. The waters held back by the dam formed Lake Talquin, which now offers outstanding recreational opportunities. Catch largemouth bass, bream, shellcracker, and speckled perch. Visitors can enjoy nature walks, picnicking, boating, and canoeing. Nature lovers will enjoy the rolling hills and deep ravines with forests of pines and hardwoods where they may spy wild turkeys, bald eagles, ospreys, and deer. To reserve the picnic pavilion for a special gathering, please call at least two weeks in advance. The pavilion is reserved on a first-come-first-served basis.
