Manager's Message
Lake Kissimmee State Park is looking for friendly, outgoing people to fill Campground Host positions for the months of May - September! A Campground Host is a volunteer (or pair of volunteers) who contribute a minimum of twenty hours of service to the park each week in exchange for a space to keep thier RV. Anyone interested in more information, please call our Volunteer Coordinator: Kiersten Wilson at 863/696-1112.
The Cow Camp at Lake Kissimmee will be closed from May 1st to October 1st; with the exception of holiday weekends. Operating hours for the Camp during holidays weekends will be from 9:30am to 4:30pm. Special Cow Camp requests can be made for groups of 15 or more by contacting the Ranger Station at: 863/696-1112.
Lake Kissimmee State Park boasts 60 beautiful campsites complete with water and electric. A perfect spot to bring your RV or tent. For the more adventurous campers, the park offers two primitive campsites located on our hiking trails. Be cautioned, when we say primitive, we mean it. The campsites, Buster Island and Fallen Oak are each located approx. 2-3 miles from the trailheads. A picnic table and ground grill/fire ring are provided for your convenience. All gear must be packed in and packed out by individuals using the site. For more information or to check on the availability of the sites, please call the Ranger Station at (863)696-1112.
Not interested in camping? That’s alright, Lake Kissimmee has plenty to offer for day use visitors. The park offers over six miles of equestrian trails and 13 miles of hiking trails. Picnic pavilions and picnic areas are available, along with a playground and observation tower. A boat ramp and marina area are located on the Zipperer Canal leading out to Lake Kissimmee. Fishing is very popular in the park, either on the lake itself or along the shore of the canal and marina. If you follow the moon phases from mid March through May, your chances of catching shell crackers and blue gills is very good.
With so many opportunities for outdoor recreation offered at the park, why not bring the family out to Lake Kissimmee to experience a bit of the Real Florida?
- Andy Noland, Park Manager
Welcome to Lake Kissimmee State Park
Florida's cowboy heritage comes alive with living history demonstrations of the early Florida "cow hunters" in an 1876-era cow camp, open 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. weekends and holidays. White-tailed deer, bald eagles, sandhill cranes, turkeys, and bobcats have been seen in the park, located on the shores of lakes Kissimmee, Tiger, and Rosalie. Visitors enjoy boating, canoeing, and fishing in the picturesque lakes. Nature students can hike over 13 miles of trails to observe and study the abundant plant and animal life. Six miles of trails are open to equestrians. A large, shaded picnic area with pavilions is available. The park has full-facility campsites, as well as a primitive camping facility. The youth camping area can accommodate up to 50 people. The dark skies make stargazing a popular nighttime activity for campers. Located off State Road 60 15 miles east of Lake Wales.
