Ichetucknee Springs State Park Photos

A view of Blue Hole Spring and swimming dock from the lushly vegetated banks of Cedar Head Run. Cool, clear waters flow along the trunk of a tree fallen next to the Ichetucknee River. A majestic hardwood, uprooted in a long-past storm, continues growing ever upward among the lush ferns in a floodplain next to the Blue Hole Trail.

High water in the floodplain along Blue Hole Trail, near Blue Hole Spring. Seasonal flooding helps keep the river ecosystem healthy. The serene paradise of the forested banks of the Head Spring Run greets several distant tubers as they head downstream for a four-hour float. A vegetarian Suwannee River Cooter turtle, with algae camouflage on its dark shell, slips into hiding among a delectable fare of eelgrass.
