I wasn't expecting much other than access to the Beach and some boat/people watching from the intracoastal. This park is so much more than that. The caretaker at the Terramar visitor center is incredibly knowledgable about both the history of the park and the wildlife (both native and non). Do yourself a favor and ask a few questions. You won't regret it. Shady picnic areas are located right on the water. Bring a picnic and eat while you watch the boats. Just yards from the tables you can find trails that seem secluded even though you're in Fort Lauderdale. I could go on but don't want to give away all the secrets. Just go -- you'll have a great time, cheap.
