Hugh Taylor Birch State Park Photos

Broken sunlight shines through seagrape foliage and branches. One of the park's freshwater lagoons reflecting sunlight and trees lining the shore. Looking up through the mangroves into the bright sunlight, a golden orb-weaver spider and web may be seen.

An open pond in the mangrove swamp with Madagascar periwinkles in the foreground. Though a lofty fig and not a banyan, this view shows the large secondary trunks this tree can form from air roots. A small brackish pond with mangrove seedlings and dead Australian pines in the background.

A large golden orb-weaver spider has a dragonfly caught in her web and is preparing to dine. Bright red male northern cardinal sings out in the morning, making it known who owns this territory. Beautiful yellow flowers on the prickly-pear cactus.
