- I just had to tell you what a fabulous first visit I had last month at Hillsborough River Park. I am from California and have never seen the Floridian wilds until my visit to your park. Some friends organized a surprise birthday party for me there. We went canoeing and birdwatching, and it was a fabulous day. As long as I live I will never forget the sights and sounds I took in while rowing down the river. The scenic beauty along the river seems untouched by human hands... nature as you rarely get to see it. Why, I even saw an alligator! (For a Californian, that's a big deal.) I thank all those who keep this magnificant park open and as it is for all of us. I encourage anyone who is thinking of including Hillsborough River Park on their schedule to do so! I know I'll be back.

We didn't arrive until later in the day, but managed to fit in an hour canoe ride down the beautiful Hillsborough River. The scenary was spectacular, and my wife encountered her first alligators. Being a Florida native, Hillsborough River State Park takes me back to the days when most of Florida looked like the park...unchanged, and peacefully quiet. We love getting back to nature & the REAL Florida wildlife, flora, & fauna. Great job keeping the park so natural. We love it, and we'll be back in about a week!
