Testimonials for Hillsborough River State Park
- I just had to tell you what a fabulous first visit I had last month at Hillsborough River Park. I am from California and have never seen the Floridian wilds until my visit to your park. Some friends organized a surprise birthday party for me there. We went canoeing and birdwatching, and it was a fabulous day. As long as I live I will never forget the sights and sounds I took in while rowing down the river. The scenic beauty along the river seems untouched by human hands... nature as you rarely get to see it. Why, I even saw an alligator! (For a Californian, that's a big deal.) I thank all those who keep this magnificant park open and as it is for all of us. I encourage anyone who is thinking of including Hillsborough River Park on their schedule to do so! I know I'll be back.
Rusty Frank - Los Angeles, CA - My wife and I visited your park on vacation last week and had an absolutely amazing time. We didn't arrive until later in the day, but managed to fit in an hour canoe ride down the beautiful Hillsborough River. The scenary was spectacular, and my wife encountered her first alligators. The facilities at the park are convenient and well-kept. It's no wonder Florida keeps winning the Gold Medal for state parks! Thanks!
Rob Lord - Marietta, GA - Though I don't live far from the park, my family and I take every opportunity to camp at the park as often as we can. Being a Florida native, Hillsborough River State Park takes me back to the days when most of Florida looked like the park...unchanged, and peacefully quiet. We love getting back to nature & the REAL Florida wildlife, flora, & fauna. Great job keeping the park so natural. We love it, and we'll be back in about a week!
Barb Mallalieu - Tampa, Florida - First time camping with my family. I must command the camping was terific. My three children is set of twins who are 3 years old and my other son is 14 years old. The experince for the family will be a great memory. We will be attending this camp ground again. The experience of walking the trail to get to the Fort was great we saw a turtle. The twins enjoyed that. My son was actually a soldier for that visit to the Fort.
Allison Gainey - ORLANDO, fl - My family and I were very happy with the camping at HRSP. It was great. Out of all the state parks we have been to, this was the best! Our host Danny Sparks was very kind, our daughter was able to ride a bike thanks to him. We were well informed. Mike Castille took us on the tour to Fort Foster and our youngest was his "little helper" at each event. The slideshow about the park was very helpful. We saw a huge gator during the presentation! We are happy to report no TICKS at all YEAH!!!! Kate and Ms. Pat were big helps at registration. Topped off by great service at the cafe'; Ms.Kathy and Ms Debra were good cooks and the food is/was affordable. We loved our campsite (#69)and we even saw a deer on our last day. I recommend this campground to anyone with small kids and dogs. We can't wait to go back!!! Oh, the pool is set up like a water park, no ladders! It was a great weekend trip.
J.D Snyder - lecanto, fl - Snyder Family, Homosassa July 2008
Best State Park camping trip we ever took. Our camp host at site 74 was the nicest man, he took excellent care of our family and a nice couple even gave us a duralog. We had an awesome time on the Fort Foster tour as well. We saw a 10 ft. Gator and learned about different wildlife at the nightime "movie" presented by Mike C. The best ranger we have ever met. My little girl still asks about when we are going back. Kate, you and Pat were awesome, Thanks so much. We will be back!!!!
P.s. I sent a more detailed email but I forgot to include when we were there. The best thing about your Park, NO TICKS! Yeah!!!!!
Jim and Nikki snyder - homosassa, fl - All the Florida State Parks we've camped in have been great, but HRSP is at the top of the list. We're about to leave for our 12th trip to HRSP and we still have not seen everything. It's a beautiful place to camp and spend time with the family. We reserve site #37. It's close to the river and close to everything. Besides some great fishing, our boys really like the pool in the shape of a lake that starts out ankle deep and ends up deeper in the center (just like a lake). We usually fix breakfast and dinner at the campsite and have lunch at the snack bar which has great food and very reasonable prices. Thanks HRSP for running a great state park, and happy camping everyone!
