Testimonials for Grayton Beach State Park
- "My husband and I took a trip down to Grayton Beach in August and I thought I was in paradise! We stayed in their fully stocked cabin and after a 10 hour drive, it is nice to arrive in a comfortable and clean place to stay. The cabin was only a couple of minutes away from the beautiful white sandy beach. The water was a clear emerald color full of small colorful fishes. Our kids really enjoyed the nature trails and watching the small crabs come out onto the beach at night. The park staff was always around to help with warm smiles and professional service. I still dream about Grayton Beach and I can’t wait to return."

- Houston, TX - Grayton Beach has the best camping area I've ever stayed in. There are only a few sites, and they are positioned in such a way that there is a lot of privacy. My wife and I travel in a small (19 ft) class B Roadtrek motor home, so its good to get out and stretch a bit. The thick foliage between campsites, at times, makes you feel as though you are the only one there.
In the mornings, I'd get up and bicycle the half mile or so to the beach. In the early hours the shore was almost always empty, and I sit on my blanket, meditating and watching God's golden sun rise over His Emerald Sea - absolutely beautiful. Later, I'd bicycle back to the Roadtrek where Julie would have breakfast ready. We'd sit in the peaceful surroundings and plan our day while listening to the birds or laughing at the small animals that scampered through the foliage.
Sometimes our plans would entail bicycling along the paved trails that connect at least a half a dozen little costal towns, or sometimes it might be a simple walk along the beach or one of the park trails. Then on other days we might walk into Seaside (to the east) or to the town of Grayton Beach (to the west) and browse the quaint little markets that they offer. Or maybe we'd just lie on the beach and read, and then drive into Destin for an evening adventure. There was always plenty to do at Grayton Beach State Park.
We've already made arrangements for a week this spring and another week this summer. I can't wait!
Hugh Chapman - Horseshoe Bend, AR - A friend and I used the camping area for a weekend trip last August. The campsites were very private and felt very safe. Also, the shower & restroom facilities were very clean and nice! The beach area was pretty empty and private feeling also. We're going back to try the cabins this weekend and will certainly return again & again, bringing new friends each time!
Brandi Surface - Nashville, TN - We choose Grayton Beach State Park on the simple fact that they still had cabins available for our vacation week. I can not say enough about our time we spent there. The Beach was the most beautiful place we could ever go as a family. The park employees were great espically Sam at the guard shack. We will not only recommend this wonderful place to everyone who is looking for a great family getaway, but will return for many years to come. Thank you.
Michael & Kristina Felker - Logansport, Indiana - We had a lovely, memorable stay at Grayton Beach! We arrived at our campsite around 5 pm, welcomed by park staff who were friendly and very helpful. Our camp site was large and clean, with plenty of trees to make it feel like we were in the wilderness. The bathroom facility isn't far from any of the campsites, situated in the middle of the loop. The bathrooms were exceptionally clean and comfortable (air-conditioned!) Late in the evening, we realized we'd lost our flashlight, so we drove five minutes to Grayton, where we found a store that was not only open, but had the exact same model of flashlight we'd bought at Wal-Mart, and it was $2 cheaper! The next morning we realized we didn't have coffee, so I went to Grayton to pick up a can at the store, but opted for Starbucks instead. I went to the main gate to get some ice. The staff was not only helpful and nice, but also really funny. We spent the rest of the day on the beach, which is about a ten-minute walk or a two-minute drive from the campsite. Even though it was the middle of July, the beach wasn't very populated. This was a wonderful experience. It's my kind of camping when you can run to the store for flashlights (and be back in time to turn the pork on the grill) and have Starbucks for breakfast. Others who prefer more isolated digs will probably be at home as well, since the campsites have a remote feeling. Overall, a great trip. We'll be back next year.
Kristen Bailey - Lincoln, Nebraska - I would live at Grayton Beach if I could! Warm Summer Breezes, Emerald Waters, Snow White Sands, Tranquil Sunsets and Starlit Evenings -- who could ask for more? I've stayed at Grayton Beach two or three times annually for the past three years, and already I've made my reservations for the spring.
Thanks for keeping the park so nice.

Hugh Chapman - Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas, 72512 - Loved the cottages at Grayton Beach, so clean and homey and yet built in such a way, they little disturbed the surrounding hammoks, which shelter plenty of deer. You see their tracks all over the dunes and all along the roadside. The state park was truly lovely, its dunes like banks of snow, its waters gentle, transparent, so unlike Central Florida, where I live. We loved the trail, with its twisted, miniaturized trees. Even bright green magnolia trees grew amoung the dwarfed woods. I love state parks and appreciate all the hard work that goes into keeping these lands handy for humans and home for wildlife. Thank you
Wendy Wilson - Orange City, Florida - My family and I visisted in 2005 and we are returning this summer (2007). This a great park and a great deal. The view is beautiful and the cabins are very clean, roomy, and comfortable. If you are considering this park, DO IT!
Terry Harris - Shreveport, LA - My family and I visited in July 2007. We loved it! The facility was incredibly clean and the campsites were close to everything, but you still had lots of privacy. The beach was beautiful. I would recommend this park to everyone! We will be back!
Dana Perkins - Spring Hill, Tennessee - Grayton State Park is a WONDERFUL place to vacation with a small family. My husband and I and our 3 children spent May of '07 in the cabins at Grayton State Park. All of us, absolutely LOVED it. We are 'beach people' and could not have had a better beach vacation! The cabins were perfectly clean and very useful. The cabins are remote enough for privacy and parking lots, streets not at all busy, where we felt our kids were safe to ride scooters or throw the frisbee. Our kids thought it was an adventure to 'take the trails' to the beach everyday, which turns out to be just about a short 5 minute walk. It was so peaceful at night....just to sit outside and look at the stars was AMAZING!!! While we felt the cabins were in a remote area, we could easily go to dinner or in to town just a short 10 minutes away. During the day, the beach was not at all crowded.....easy to keep track of small children running and playing in the sand and waves. We highly recommend Grayton State Park and their cabins as a low cost family vacation at the beach. My advice: make reservations early, at least 6 months in advance, especially for the summer months.
Carmen Thomas - Floyds Knobs, IN - My husband and two sons stayed last spring break at the park with a rented camper. Our campsite was spectacular, backing up to the lake (site 18) We biked into Seaside and over to the beach. Hike the beautiful nature trail over there with the trees that look like canopies! It is truly heaven! We met fantastic people and are leaving today to try the cabins out. I can't tell you how much we are looking forward to our next experience there. We are fortunate to live close by and will make this a regular spot to vacation. Make reservations early, they go quickly!
Krista Stein - Gulf Breeze, FL - My family and I spend 5 nights at Grayton Beach State Park in their Cabins the week of July 4th. The cabins were unbelievably clean and comfortable. I wouldn't really even describe them as cabins. More like cute beach cottages. We had plenty of room and the screened in back porch was an ideal getaway for the two 13 yr. old girls that were with us. They spent every evening out there enjoying their privacy while the rest of the family was in watching tv, relaxing. We went to both beaches, the private cabin beach and the beach located in the campground area. Both were very nice, it seemed the campground beach had less sea grass in it so it was a little cleaner at the time. We sat on the beach 4th of July and watched the fireworks from all directions. We could see the shows as far away as Panama City and Destin and the Seaside show was right there! This is a great, relaxing place to vacation and I would recommend it to anyone. Especially for the price!
Lisa Grant - Magnolia, TX - My husband an I had jusy made a 12 hour trip and could not find a motel to stay at when we went by the sign for Grayton State Park. Since we stay at Ohio state Park cabins once in a while, we decided to see if Grayton had any vacancies. The attendant at the office was very polite and gave us all the information for the area. We was so impressed with the helpfulness of the attendant that we stayed 3 nights at your delightful cabin.
We have decided to take another trip to Grayton in the very near future and enjoy a weeks stay!
Thank you for your beautiful park.
Miriam Burtch - Jamestown, Ohio - We have camped at the park many times and never tire of it. It is a beautiful place! The park employees are always so helpful and the shower houses are always clean. We loved the privacy of the campgrounds also. We were there in Nov. and are already thinking of another trip in April! Can't wait! Thanks for making it such a memorable place for everyone who appreciates the great outdoors!
Brett & April Zachary - Scottsville, KY - We just got back from Grayton Beach State Park and I am already on here looking at availability to see when we can book it again! We stayed in one of their cabins and had a wonderful time! We took my mom and our 2 kids, and everyone enjoyed themselves to the fullest. The beach is so beautiful. My kids kept hoping they see a sea turtle, but it isn't really their nesting season yet, but we will be back! The water is beautiful! We also did some shopping and dining in the nearby town of Seaside, and it was just adorable. The staff was very friednly and helpful. The accommodations are priced just right, the views are amazing and the sunsets are inspiring! These are memories that my family will have forever... we are looking forward to creating more... SOON!
Sherry Sneed - Flint, TX - We are scheduled for our second camping visit to Grayton this coming July. We have stayed at two other local state park campgrounds but have loved Grayton. The sites feel secluded, bathrooms are close and clean. Beach area is a short drive. Very nice beach with minimal people around. We are a family with 3 children from 5 to 9 years old and we all have had a great time. We have found very few things are needed to keep the kids occupied while at the park. Bikes, books, bucket of somekind for capturing insects and small critters and some sort of lawn game at camp. Buckets, nets and boogie boards have kept our kids happy for full days on the beach.
Llhih Barnes - Louisville, KY - My fiance and I went to Grayton this past July (2009) and we had such a great time that we are going back in September. The campsites were very private. The bathrooms were clean and do not get me started on how cool the beach was. Also, there were two hiking trails, one was a sand dune trail and the other hiking trail was a pine tree trail both equal a 70 minute hike. The hike was very refreshing. There is also a lake were you can rent a canoe for $10 for every 5 hours you are out on the lake, which is a good value b/c the store down the street wanted $70 a day for a kayak. All in all the trip was very awesome. The best part to me was the cool gift shops that had unique gifts. We went to The Zoo Gallery and a place called Modeo. They are expensive, but if you are looking for something that is not a generic beach souvenir then stop by.
Jessica Adkins - Pike Road, Alabama - My girlfriends and I just returned from a girl trip to Grayton Beach State Park. We were there August 27th thru 31st, 2009. We stayed in cabin # 13, Rockrose. The cabin was clean and nice. The beach was beautiful, but we mostly went to the campers beach as it was a little more excessable for unloading all of our stuff. I was dissapointed that we could not leave our shade canopy up the whole visit as we do at other beaches we have visited, but I understand the need to protect the sea Turtles nesting area. Overall it was a good experience and we would all like to visit again. It was a good value for the money and the staff were great. We were so glad to have learned of the park. Thanks!
