Fort Zachary Taylor Historic State Park

About Fort Zachary Taylor Historic State Park

Many people sunbathe on the beach at Fort Zachary Taylor State Park in Key West.

A NOTE FROM THE MANAGER

John Maehl

Winter is behind us, and the ocean is beginning to warm up here at Fort Zachary Taylor. Time to gather the beach gear, plan a picnic and enjoy some quality in-water time. Many migratory birds can be spotted along the trails this time of year, pausing to rest and feed before continuing on their journey. We are also on the countdown to the start of turtle season, when we will be checking the beach every morning for turtle nests and later, new hatchlings. You don’t want to miss out on any of the fun, so come on out and enjoy a day at the southernmost state park in the continental U.S.
