Fort Zachary Taylor Historic State Park

About Fort Zachary Taylor Historic State Park

Many people sunbathe on the beach at Fort Zachary Taylor State Park in Key West.

John Maehl

Summer holds the distinction for being the favorite season for staff at Fort Zachary Taylor. While it does bring some heat and intense sun, you’re never very far from the water and it is calm and crystal clear for a world-class snorkeling experience. Many times we hear from visitors, who chartered trips to the reef during their vacation to Key West, that they saw just as much marine life from the Fort Zachary Taylor beach.

Be sure to catch the guided Fort Tour at noon every day. We have some new tour guides this year who have complimented our veteran guides very well. You are sure to get an entertaining and informative tour from old and new alike!

So, be sure to bring your snorkel gear and sun block or pick it up at our park concession along with a fresh and filling meal. The Cayo Hueso Beach Café boasts some of the most reasonable prices in Key West and a host of satisfied customers. I’m no food critic but my personal favorite is the Greek steak wrap!

While visiting please say hello to any of our park rangers and let them know if there is anything they can do to improve your visit. They are there for you!
