Fanning Springs State Park Photos

Looking west beyond the floating dock one can se where the springs join the Suwannee River. From this angle one is looking into the water near the main spring boil and on toward the floating dock. A slightly deeper channel leading from the boil is evident. The channel is to deep for swimmers to stand in so a bit of vegetation grows along it's bottom. Looking into the spring boil one can see several large boulders protruding from the sides of the bowl. In the background above water is the lifeguard stand. Lifeguards are on duty only during our warmer swimming season.

Looking down into the clear water it looks like it is only a few feet to the bottom. In reality the average depth of the boil is eighteen feet deep. Most of the time the rest of the swimming area ranges from inches to around six feet. The depth can vary dramatically due to the amount of rain that has fallen in the Suwannee River basin and the Fanning Springs Basin. Cabins

Our cabin living room couches fold out into beds. The fireplace in the background is fueled by gas and is operational during the cooler months October through March. The master bedroom in the handicapped accessible cabin is slightly larger than that of the other cabins. The room consist of a queen sized bed, chest of drawers, sitting chair, lamp, night stand, and a closet. All cabins have central heat and air. This exterior view of the cabins is shot from the paved parking area looking up the sidewalk to the front side of the cabin. The cabins are set in a hardwood hammock which affords plenty of shade in the summer and lets the sun in during the winter.

Besides the master bedroom is another bedroom which comes equipped with two single beds, chest of drawers, sitting chair, lamp, night stand, and a closet. The cabin kitchens come complete with a full size refrigerator with a top freezer dishwasher, oven/stove, micro-wave, toaster, coffee pot, pots and pans and eating utensils. All you need to bring are some paper towels, food and yourself. Looking from the dining area one sees a small couch and beyond that the doorways into the two bedrooms. To the left is the front door leading to the screened porch.

The non-handicapped accessible cabins have smaller bedrooms than our handicapped accessible cabin. We like to think of them as being cozy.   The big L shaped porch features a picnic table and porch swing. Around the corner and unseen in this photo are a couple of rocking chairs and an end table. The porches are screened and have overhead fans to keep you cool and bug free during our long hot summer.
