

• Must not exceed the manufacturer’s weight limit for one’s chosen vessel.
• Must have the ability to wear a properly fitted personal flotation device.
• Must have the ability to follow visual and/or verbal instructions independently or with the assistance of a companion.
• Must be able to tolerate exposure to the outdoors for approximately 4 hours.
• Must provide one’s own drinking water and other personal need items.
• Must provide an individually owned or rented kayak that one is able to carry, independently or with the assistance of a companion, for up to 300 feet over wet, sandy, and uneven terrain.
• Must be able to enter and exit the bed of a truck, or traverse a 300 foot sidewalk, independently or with the assistance of a companion.
• Must have the ability to enter and exit the kayak independently or with the assistance of a companion.
• Must have the ability to remain seated, maneuver, and balance independently or with the assistance of a companion.
• Must have at least one person in the kayak with the ability to navigate through a variable water depth of 1-6 feet and for a distance of approximately (will fill in the #) miles in a stable manner and return it back to the launching area.
In the event of a capsize, one:
• Must have the ability to get out from under the kayak independently.
• Must have the ability to right oneself and remain face up in the water with the aid of a personal flotation device.
