NATIONAL PUBLIC LANDS DAY--MY FIRST VOLUNTEER PROJECT
De Leon Springs State Park
Date: September 27, 2014, 9:00 a.m.-12:00p.m.
Please join the Friends of DeLeon Springs State Park and Assistant Park Manager Dave Garcia in support of National Public Lands Day. We need help planting 500 potted Long-leaf pines for restoring areas of disturbed Pine Flatwoods Habitats in the park. While we work, guest speaker and DEP biologist, Graham Williams will share his knowledge of the importance of restoring Florida’s dominant pine species. Partner with us in this long-term effort to return disturbed pasture land into what the first Europeans exploring Central Florida saw. We recommend bringing: appropriate clothing such as long trousers and closed shoes, as well as water and bug spray to use if needed. Please bring own shovel if possible.
If you have any special needs, please contact park office at 386-985-4212 before arriving so we can make reasonable accommodations.
Fees: Free entance for participants
