Cross Florida Greenway - Withlacoochee Bay Trail

About Cross Florida Greenway - Withlacoochee Bay Trail

Observation platform alongside Withlacoochee Bay Trail, by John Moran.

The Withlacoochee Bay Trail and Felburn Park are the result of a cooperative partnership with the Felburn Foundation, the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, the Florida Department of Transportation and Citrus County.

Running parallel to the paved trail from Felburn Park, a vehicle access road traverses from the U.S. 19 bridges westward for almost five miles. This road provides access to numerous multi-use platform-pavilions that are situated along the canal. The platforms are suited for nature observation, picnicking, fishing or just enjoying the great outdoors. At the westernmost end of the access road a parking area and canoe/kayak launch are available on the south side of the paved trail.

In addition to the paved trail, the 500-acre Dixon Hammock located west of U.S. 19 provides unpaved trails for trail users seeking a more rustic experience. Miles of old logging road trails provide ample opportunity for hikers, mountain bikers and equestrian enthusiasts to get back into the woods of Florida. Equestrian trails are denoted by both a red and green blaze.
