Hiking/Nature Trail

Hiking/Nature Trail

There is a hiking trail in this area, marked for approximately one mile with an orange blaze and officially designated as a portion of the Florida National Scenic Trail. This wooded area features some rugged and interesting terrain, including a few large boulders that emerged as a result of the former ship canal diggings. The Florida Trail Association produces a detailed hiking guide and segment-by-segment maps that are very useful for hiking the entire Florida Trail.

Horse/Equestrian Trail

Horse/Equestrian Trail

An unpaved 6.3 mile equestrian trail runs between CR 484 and SR 200. There is access to this area via the Ross Prairie trailhead. Note that Florida law requires proof of current negative Coggins test for horses. While helmets are strongly recommended for all riders, state law requires that riders of age 16 and under wear helmets.
