Manager's Message

Bald Point State Park has burned over 1000 acres this season. The areas burned have been in the north east portion of the park stretching from Ochlockonee Bay down the entire length of Chaires Creek. The primitive campsites on the Chaires Creek system are open. Through many years of research and burning in the park service we have learned that mimicking naturally occurring fires obtains a higher diversity of plant and animal life while reducing fuels that could cause wildfires. If you enjoy hiking or bicycling, Bald Point has many trails to explore. For canoeing, we have many freshwater lakes, tidal creeks and Ochlockonee and Apalachee bays. Red fish and trout are feeding in the shallows and can be caught from our small fishing pier. Morning and evening times seem to offer the best results for fishing. The park opens at 8:00 am and closes at sundown. If you wish to fish later into the evening or earlier then 8:00 am you can do this by purchasing a Florida State Park entrance pass. These passes can be purchased at Ochlockonee River State Park 850-962-2771. Biting insects are always present, so if you plan on visiting us, please come prepared with insect repellent. If you would like to check the results of water testing for beaches and swimming anywhere in Florida log on to http://esetappsdoh.doh.state.fl.us/irm00beachwater/ Please visit us at Bald Point; enjoy the natural beauty and a multitude of recreational opportunities. Thank you.

Welcome to Bald Point State Park

Some of the most picturesque scenic areas along north Florida´s Gulf Coast can be found at this park. Located on Alligator Point where Ochlockonee Bay meets Apalachee Bay, Bald Point offers a multitude of land and water activities. Coastal marshes, pine flatwoods, and oak thickets foster a diversity of biological communities that make the park a popular destination for birding and wildlife viewing. Every fall, bald eagles, other migrating raptors, and monarch butterflies are commonly sighted as they head south for the winter. Bald Point offers access to two Apalachee Bay beaches for swimming, sunbathing, and fishing. Other activities include canoeing, kayaking, windsurfing, and hiking. Facilities include a fishing dock and picnic pavilions. Located off U.S. 98, one mile south of Ochlockonee Bay. Take State Road 370 for 3 miles to Bald Point Road.
