Frequently Asked Questions about Bahia Honda State Park


Question: Are reservations required for camping and cabins?
Answer: Reservations are required during the busy season, weekends and holidays because 90% of our sites are reserved. It is suggested you make reservations up to 11 months in advance but no less than two days in advance. A few sites are set aside for first-come, first-served. All of the cabins may be reserved.

Question: Are pets allowed in the park?
Answer: Pets are permitted in overnight areas, but not on the beaches, in the picnic areas or concession area. Service animals are welcome in all areas of the park.

Question: Do you have waterfront campsites?
Answer: We have a few sites on the water for RV’s but they are not on the beach. The only beachfront sites are limited to tents or pop-ups, and we only have a few of those.

Question: Are there weekly or monthly rates for camping or the cabins?
Answer: There are no weekly or monthly rates at the park. The maximum stay is 14 nights.

Question: Does the park have a swimming pool?
Answer: No. However, we have almost 3 miles of beautiful Atlantic beachfront for swimming.

Question: Are the cabins on the beach?
Answer: The cabins overlook a boating basin that opens out into the Gulf of Mexico. The basin drops down 30 feet. Swimming and snorkeling are not permitted in this area of the park.

Question: If the park closes at sunset, how do I get in or out of the park if I am camping?
Answer: When you register to camp, you are given the combination to the gate lock.

Question: Do campsites have sewer hook-ups?
Answer: Individual campsites do not have sewer hook-ups. There is a centralized dump station in the Buttonwood Campground.

Question: What is included on each campsite?
Answer: Each campsite has a picnic table, a grill, a freshwater spigot and electricity, if requested.
