Anastasia State Park

 About Anastasia State Park

A campsite in the shady Maritime Hammock.

A NOTE FROM THE MANAGER

Paul Crawford

Now is the perfect time for exploring our park. While here you may decide to go kayaking, windsurfing, or fishing in Salt Run, our tidal marsh; exploring our nature trails, or just relaxing on the beach. Once on the beach, you may observe many varieties of shorebirds such as Royal Terns, Brown Pelicans, and Black Skimmers. Walking north on the beach offers seclusion and relaxation, as well as a nice view of the St.Augustine Lighthouse.

I encourage you to take advantage of assorted events and programs offered at the park. Some examples include a sandcastle building contest held in June, to an exciting monthly bird walk viewing shorebirds on the beach and songbirds in the hammock.

Furthermore, don’t leave without visiting one of our fascinating cultural resources within the park “The Old Spanish Quarry” located at the entrance to the park. In 1970 this site was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in contribution to the settlement of St.Augustine, including the Coquina stone needed to build the Castillio de San Marcos

Check out our citizen support organization the “Friends of Anastasia State Park”. They are a great group of unique citizens who help support Anastasia State Park

with services that enhance the experience of all who visit this special place. Please visit their website at www.friendsofanastasia.org. If you join you will receive a pass for 12 free admissions into the park, a $96.00 value for $25.00.

(Please be aware, The Sand Dollar bathhouse will be closed during the month of October, 2013).
