Testimonials for Alafia River State Park
- Alafia River State Park is Very nice, clean, and fun. Our family went their to go biking and the trails are awesome, the Sand Pine trail was narrow and had a lot of roots, but not a big problem at all. When we drove into the park we saw a monitor lizard and later on we saw two tortoises, an alligator, and a armadillo.Awesome park , known for great bike trails! A have to see , were going back next week!
Lori - Plant City, Florida - The best state park for biking! I haven't been to the rest of the park yet but I'm going to be there next week!
Gabryanna Johnson - Branodn, Fl - Alafia River has some of the most incredible mountain bike trails anywhere.
They're super-fast but not so technical as to be scary. Strength is more important than technical skill. As they say, it rides like a rollercoaster. Better than Disney, and a lot cheaper.
Thanks to all who made the trails and keep them going.
ROBERT HUGHES - SATELLITE BEACH, FL - My husband and visited the park today for the first time to learn about the different trails and make a wise decision on what type of bikes we should purchase. We also were hoping to enjoy a nice relaxing afternoon. Unfortunately, it turned out to be quite the opposite. We decided to hike our way around and were not able to follow the hiking trail. We found ourselves in a matter of minutes walking in one (or more) of the biking trails. We had to move very quickly to get out of the way of very experienced bikers.
It was very difficult to find our way back to the picnic/parking area. No signs marked in any of the trails that we encountered except the entrance. After more than an hour looking for our way out, two friendly bikers guided us to the exit.
It will be very helpful for new visitors if you will either color code marks or put signs on some trees to lead people in the right direction. We were fortunate that it was a nice clear early afternoon and found two friendly people that were very familiar with the surroundings. They agreed that it's difficult navigating around the park. I will say, based in our experience, this park it's not a very family friendly place. Go Gators!!!
M & M - Tampa, Florida - We recently camped at the park and thought it was one best laid out campgrounds we've been to. It was clean, the campsites were well spaced and it had excellent trails for hiking. (biking and horseback riding too) The playground was a little spartan and there are no concessions like canoe rentals but there is a canoe livery close by that is very reasonable and a park not far away that has a large playground for the kids and more hiking trails. We spent three days there and were never without something fun to do.
Family V - , FL - I road two of the beginner trails. They were wonderful and a great way to relax after two days at Disney. I really appreciate the ratings on the trails, which allowed this older chubby guy to find something fun to ride.
No hills, just great single track!
John Williams - Mexico, MO - Alafia has great bike trails. I am involved with Boy Scouts and they love coming up here to ride. It would be great if Alafia had a group camping area. It seems to be one of the few state parks in Florida that does not have a group camping area.
