Testimonials for Myakka River State Park
- Carlton & Ruth have been in over 30 Florida State Parks in 25 years, some many times in a travel trailer. The Myakka River State Park is a wonderful place to visit in a very unique location. Although we now are in our 80's (no longer with a trailer) we plan to come stay in one of the "palm log" cabins built in the 1930's & now modernized. On one of our first trips to Myakka Park, together with a group of our family also in trailers, we spent much time walking the paths & seeing deer, wild hogs & many other smaller animals. Then a scenic boat trip on the Myakka River with all it had to offer. It was always: "Look at this" or "Look at that" - so much to see! As the sun began to set all of us were happy to enjoy our cookout & look forward to another day in a special place - which all should see.
Carlton Heil - Dowling Park, FL - I lived near Myakka for 6 years during the late 1980s. Visits were numerous and one of my favorite memories of Florida.
I still picture the vultures perched on the tree branches close to the time of sunset.
For anyone who wishes a one day insight to the natural world of Florida, this is the place to visit.
Thanks for the fun and memories.
Steve White - Bainbridge, New York - We have been camping at Myakka each Thanksgiving for the past 7 years. As a Florida native, Myakka allows me to enjoy the natural beauty of "Old Florida" each time we visit. The diverse wildlife is a wonder to watch. You never know what you will see. Each time our children come to visit their one request is that we take a trip to Myakka. For anyone who wants to see what Florida looks like in it's "native" state a visit to this park is a must!
Lisa King - Miramar, FL - I have camped in over 20 State and National Parks throughout the Country. This was my first visit to Myakka River State Park and I was overwhelmed by the amount of wildlife I was able to encounter in the 3 days I stayed at the park. I went back home with pictures of Hawks, Snakes, Gators, Wild Pigs, Deers, Frogs, Bunnies, Voltures, at least 6 other species of birds, of course you can't leave behind the pesky Raccoons...The Canopy Walk was amazing; canoeing the Upper Myakka Lake and all the wildlife that surrounds you was an awesome experience. I am definitely making this one of my favorite parks in the country. If you want to enjoy and experience nature, this is the place to go. Follow the park rules and warnings, respect nature, and you will be rewarded with an experience you'll never forget.
Kervin Gomez - Fort Lauderdale, FL - We have visited a few of the state parks here in the Sunshine State, and by far this is the best yet! The Rangers and staff were very friendly and helpful. The campground facilities were very clean. Even our 13 year old son commented on how clean the showers were. Both my son and daughter are scouts (boy/girl scouts), and we found the abundant wildlife and trails a big plus for them. We hiked 2 to 3 miles on each of our 2 days in the park. We saw deer, gators, wild boar, lizard, vultures, turtles, and several other animals. I have been telling everyone I know to visit this Florida teasure and I would HIGHLY recommend it to anybody who wants to experience the "Real Florida"!!!
