- PIRATES IN PARADISE FESTIVAL

Description: Fort Taylor becomes the site of the 'Thieves’ Market & Historical Encampment' during the Pirates in Paradise Festival. This event features living history pirate encampments, period clothing, arts and crafts, pirate treasure and black powder weapons demonstrations, careening camp, fight circles, and kid’s games. Live entertainment includes strolling minstrels and combative stuntmen. Pirates in Paradise.

- A LIGNUMVITAE KEY CHRISTMAS
Lignumvitae Key Botanical State Park

Description: As the holidays are approaching, we would like to invite everyone to join us for our annual event ‘A Lignumvitae Key Christmas’ on Dec. 5 & 6. The historic Matheson House will be decorated for the holidays in an early 1900s ambiance of the Florida Keys. Visitors will be able to see how caretakers of the past would have adorned the walls of their island abode. They will also be able to sample homemade cookies, cakes & refreshments. Boats will be leaving Robbie’s Marina, located at Mile Marker 77.5, bayside, every hour on the hour. Tour boats will begin shuttling passengers to the island at 9:00 a.m. and stop at 3:00 p.m. Anyone wishing to join us or having a question may call (305) 664-2540.

Description: Join us on December 6th for 'Bark in the Park,' a celebration of all things canine! We'll have pet games, free pet photos, a canine-created art show and a Fido fashion show just for starters. Plus, children's activities, a silent auction, vendors, music and a very special guest - 'Mrs. Florida' The event will be hosted by Lista as 'Lucille Ball.' You don't want to miss this event! And, don't forget to bring Fido. Dogs are most certainly welcome at this event as long as they are kept on a 6-foot, handheld, non-retractable leash and are well behaved.

- KEY BISCAYNE WINTERFEST BOAT PARADE

Description: Inspired by a forty-six year tradition, approximately fifty boats will sail out of the Key Biscayne Yacht Club decked out in Holiday Lights, and sail around Biscayne Bay, making several passes through No-Name Harbor. Description: World-renowned ragtime pianist, Bob Milne, will be presenting a very special concert to benefit the Friends of MacArthur Beach State Park's 'Nature Education Endowment Fund.' Moneys raised will be dedicated to supporting the park's Natural Science Education Programs that are offered each year to thousands of Palm Beach County school children.
This benefit concert, by America's 'Musical Ambassador,' will be held at Palm Beach Community College's Eissey Campus Theater located at 11051 Campus Drive in Palm Beach Gardens. Tickets are available by calling (561) 207-5900 or at the Box Office; open Monday-Friday from 11:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Preferred Orchestra Seating, which includes a post-performance Meet the Artist reception, is $50.00. - WASHINGTON'S BIRTHDAY REGATTA
The Barnacle Historic State Park
Date: February 27, Race begins at 12:00 PM
Description: Follow in the footsteps of Commodore Ralph Munroe, yacht designer, Coconut Grove pioneer, and founder of Biscayne Bay Yacht Club. The Washington’s Birthday Regatta originated at Munroe's new boathouse in 1887.
This fun race is open to vessels of traditional design regardless of construction: mud hens, sea pearls, bullseyes, sharpies, Bahama dinghies, cat boats, gaff-rigs, etc.
There will be a Skipper's Meeting at 10:30 AM. The race will begin at noon, rain or shine.

- 15TH ANNUAL EARTH DAY CELEBRATION
Bahia Honda State Park
Date: April 10, 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM
Description: Bahia Honda State Park will be holding its 15th Annual Earth Day Celebration on April 10, 2010 from 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. There will be live music provided by local musicians. The local Moose Lodge, from Big Pine Key, will be cooking up some wonderful hot dogs, sloppy Joes and fixin’s for the event. Admission to the park is free (come early, parking is limited).
Activities will include: face painting, a puppet show, fish printing and a sand sculpture contest.
The Save-a-Turtle organization will co-host the event, and have several activities and displays. They will also be selling raffle tickets to raise money for sea turtle research. There will be environmental exhibits and booths, marine life touch tanks and children’s activities. The Florida Keys Astronomy Club will set up telescopes with a special lens for viewing the sun.
