Entering a Dry Season
If you are planning a day visit or a camping trip to Silver River, please be aware that we are entering our dry season when the potential for wildfire is greatly increased. Decisions are made on a daily basis whether or not to post a complete burn ban or a partial burn ban. If camp fires are an important part of your visit you should call the park to find out status.
Occasionally, if weather indicates, we have a total burn ban including no charcoal. In these cases the only "burning" permitted are gas grills. Currently (1/9/2009)we have a partial burn ban. Ground fires are not permitted between the hours of 11:00 am and 6:00 pm. Charcoal is permitted. While we do try to call those who have pavilion rentals when we have a ban, we are not able to call all incoming campers to forewarn them. Thanks for your understanding.
Florida State Parks will begin a new initiative for cabin guests on July 1, 2009 which will save water, detergent, electricity and related costs. We will no longer supply bedroom, bathroom or kitchen linens for cabin stays, including sheets, blankets, pillowcases, mattress pads, bed covers, towels or bathmats. When making online reservations available bed sizes may be found by looking at the Site Type details pages for the cabins.
Mark your calendars...Monthly Ranger Programs which were suspended for the summer are now back on the schedule. Check special events listing for details on upcoming events.
The Silver River Museum and Environmental Center is open on Saturdays and Sundays from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. There is a $2.00 charge per person; children under 6 are free.
